With the intention of expanding the dissemination and exhibition of digital arts, the MADEIRADiG festival presents in its 2024 program the exhibition “DIGITALAB 0.1 | GENERATIVE BEING” by Pedro Alves da Veiga.

This exhibition, curated by Hernando Urrutia, director and curator of the project DIGITALAB - Digital Aesthetics Laboratory and artistic director of projects in the area of ​​New Media/Digital Media-Arts at APCA - Agency for the Promotion of Atlantic Culture, was on display at Galeria Tratuário in July this year, now heading towards the John dos Passos Cultural Center, where the opening and closing shows of the MADEIRADiG festival will take place. It will be on display at the space during the festival, from November 28th to December 3rd.

This is an exhibition of generative art, art created with code, using algorithms that determine transformations through various computational techniques, which seeks to affect the scope of creation, constantly modified by feedback originating in experimentation, adjusting systems to produce new versions of each narrative , followed by an approach to the creative process (a/r/cography), used to create the works on display. The generative narratives in these works are conceptually based on BEING and the different forms of connection, whether internal or external, so their works focus on the importance of the internal BEING, in connection with the soul, the mind and the body and the BEING external, in connection with others, with space, with society.

DIGITALAB 0.1 | SER-GENERATIVO is an exhibition that comes from BEING to BEING, materializing in works crossed by technology and digital aesthetics, with a stimulating character, involving different digital media and proposing constant reflections. It is part of the DIGITALAB project, which aims to promote a meeting between avant-garde languages, proposing reflection and digital thinking, exploring relationships with an experimental tendency and/or connection with technology.

DIGITALAB - Digital Aesthetics Laboratory is born from the growing path that is being marked in contemporary artistic and discursive production with digital computational language of new media, DIGITALAB proposes to enhance the relationships between thought/action and creativity/innovation, in the changing experiences of contemporary society and languages that make these changes and new experiences possible.

It is worth remembering that the MADEIRADiG festival, organized by APCA - Agência de Promoção da Cultura Atlântica in partnership with the cultural agency Digital in Berlin and Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, celebrates this year its 20th edition, which takes place from November 28th to November 3rd. December, between Calheta and Ponta do Sol. Following their usual format, the concerts will take place at 9:30 pm between the Centro Cultural John dos Passos and the auditorium of MUDAS - Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira, followed by after sessions at Estalagem da Ponta do Sol.

The opening and closing concerts at CC John dos Passos are free entry, with the rest requiring a daily ticket worth 20 euros, purchased through the official MADEIRADiG website: www.madeiradig.com

The festival also has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture through Casa das MUDAS - Museum of Contemporary Art of Madeira and the John dos Passos Cultural Center, and also by the Portuguese Republic - Culture and the General Directorate of Arts (DGArtes ), within the scope of the program to support programming and audience development projects in the area of ​​New Media.​
