APCA Madeira opens Tratuário Gallery on Rua da Carreira

The opening of the Tratuário Gallery took place last Thursday, March 14th, and was attended by the Regional Director of Culture, Natércia Xavier, and the President of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, José Manuel Rodrigues. "Monsters" by António Aragão marked the opening of the gallery.​

Curated by Martinho Mendes, the exhibition "Monsters" portrays the last collection of paintings by António Aragão, painted in 1992. Of the 16 paintings in this collection, 12 paintings are on display acquired by APCA - Agency for the Promotion of Atlantic Culture, with the the addition of a painting from the Casa da Cultura de Santa Cruz / Quinta do Revoredo and another belonging to MUDAS - Museum of Contemporary Art of Madeira.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tratuário will therefore be a multidisciplinary gallery, which will host various types of cultural activities, such as: exhibitions, concerts, workshops, plays, shows or cinema. The program for the current year of 2024 is already closed, but APCA is available to receive proposals from artists interested in collaborations for the year 2025, subject to evaluation by the curatorial team.

“Os Monstros” by António Aragão is the first exhibition in the space and can be visited until May 24th.
