TRATUARIO logomarca_assinatura.jpg

Galeria Tratuário establishes itself as a space dedicated to contemporary creation, focused on fostering synergies between artists and the glocal community. Its programme includes exhibitions, innovative and interdisciplinary artistic projects, as well as institutional collaborations, grounded in the belief that creative expression is a fundamental instrument for individual enrichment, social cohesion and cultural transformation.

The Gallery makes a significant contribution to the local economy by stimulating cultural tourism in Funchal and enhancing the urban environment, reinforcing its vitality and appeal. At the same time, it acts as an active agent within the Madeiran, national and international cultural landscape, promoting the island as a territory for contemporary cultural production while engaging with broader artistic and technological contexts. In this regard, the Gallery supports the local artistic community by identifying, accompanying and fostering emerging talent.

Within the scope of this project, Galeria Tratuário aims to stimulate artistic creation and production at both regional and national level, encouraging the mobility of artists and curators through partnerships with other cultural spaces across the archipelagos and mainland Portugal, with a view to building a networked programme. The curatorial process prioritises the creation of original works and projects, selecting artists whose practices demonstrate an ability to establish dialogue between different fields of knowledge, from new media to visual and digital arts, fostering transdisciplinary approaches within the local context.

The Gallery’s relevance has increasingly become established as a structuring element within a creative, dynamic and critical ecosystem, contributing to audience development and the active participation of local communities, with a particular focus on its work with schools and educational contexts.
