In 2026, Funchal City Sessions establishes itself as a renewed artistic platform dedicated to exploring the languages of contemporary music, with a particular focus on electronic, experimental and avant-garde practices. The project takes on a continuous and programme-driven character, reflecting greater ambition and a broader vision of the role of music as an artistic and cultural practice.

Created in 2022 as an urban extension of the MADEIRADiG Festival, Funchal City Sessions was established with the aim of engaging, educating and developing audiences interested in the most innovative musical expressions. Its evolution reflects the need to consolidate these initial aims, and it now positions itself as a regular platform for artistic programming in Funchal, with its own identity and conceptual autonomy.

Galeria Tratuário forms the central axis of this programme, serving as the main venue for Funchal City Sessions and as a reference point in the city for the presentation of electronic and experimental music. The consistent integration of this sonic dimension reinforces the Gallery’s position as a space for experimentation, interdisciplinary exchange and the convergence of contemporary artistic practices, playing a significant role within the local cultural ecosystem.
