MUDAS. Museum of Contemporary Art of Madeira will host the opening of the exhibition Ilhas Revisitadas on 12 August at 4:30 pm, featuring works by artists Joana Viveiros and Rosa Cabral, winners of the Ilhas Revisitadas open call.
The exhibition is part of the celebrations marking the centenary of the publication of As Ilhas Desconhecidas (The Unknown Islands) by Raúl Brandão and is the result of an open call promoted by APCA – Agência de Promoção da Cultura Atlântica. Emerging from an artistic exchange between Madeira and the Azores are the projects Condição: Ilhéu, by Joana Viveiros, and Aqui acaba o mundo que conheço e começa a constelação que desconheço, by Rosa Cabral.
Promoted by APCA – Agência de Promoção da Cultura Atlântica, in partnership with CHAM Açores – Centre for the Humanities / University of the Azores, the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture, through MUDAS. Museum of Contemporary Art of Madeira, and Arquipélago – Contemporary Arts Centre, the initiative challenged an Azorean artist and a Madeiran artist to explore Raúl Brandão’s As Ilhas Desconhecidas, creating works that engage with island imaginaries, isolation, collective memory and the landscape as a place of revelation.
The exhibition opening will take place on 12 August at 4:30 pm at MUDAS. Museum of Contemporary Art of Madeira.
